Vaccine Supply Update - February 3, 2021
The Morgan County Health Department has confirmed that it will being administering only second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for the time being.
“If you received your first dose at the Morgan County Health Department, please know that your second dose is here and will be ready when you return,” says Alabama Department of Public Health Administrator for the Northern District Judy Smith.
Decatur Morgan Hospital recently received a new shipment of the vaccine and is scheduling appointments. Eligible residents are encouraged to register on their website.
Those eligible for a vaccine can also visit the state’s website to find locations for possible first dose vaccinations.
“We’re using the supply we have been allocated to the very best of our abilities and are relentlessly advocating for more doses in our community,” adds Smith.
No timetable has been provided for additional vaccine shipments for the Morgan County Health Department.
Those currently eligible for vaccine in Alabama are healthcare providers, nursing home residents, law enforcement officers, firefighters and persons age 75 and older.
Beginning February 8, people 65 or older and additional groups of critical workers will be eligible to get the vaccine.
